Child Safety Standards Policy

1. ABOUT US

AFFINITY SQUARE LTD (“AFSQUARE” or the “Company”) is a company incorporated under the laws of Cameroon. AFFINITY SQUARE owns and operates a Dating platform ‘Chat&Yamo’ (the app or Platform) aimed at social networking.

2. Definitions

“Child sexual abuse and exploitation”child sexual abuse is any form of sexual activity with a child by an adult or an adult or an older adolescent including acts such as:

  • Inappropriate content(e.g exposing a child to sexual content, grooming, or coercing them in sexual activities, videos depicting graphic violence);
  • Inappropriate interactions with a child (touching, caresses, etc.);
  • Solicitation of children for sexual purposes (for example, befriending a child online to facilitate, online or offline, sexual contact and/or exchanging sexual images with the child);
  • Sexualisation of minors (e.g., images that depict, encourage or promote the sexual abuse of minors, or a depiction of children that is likely to result in their sexual exploitation);
  • “Sextortion” (e.g., threatening or blackmailing a child under the pretext of having actual or presumed access to intimate images of them);
  • Child trafficking (for example, advertising a child or soliciting a minor for commercial sexual exploitation);
  • Fake giveaways, counterfeit good and deceptive marketing;

3. Our Commitment

At AFFINITY SQUARE, we take the safety, security, and well-being of our users seriously.

We recognize that while most interactions on our platform are positive, any instance of misconduct or harm is one too many.

We are committed to continuously improving safety measures, leveraging advanced technology, collaborating with industry leaders, and fostering a respectful and secure environment for all users.

We are committed to explicitly prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation in all its forms.

Provide clear safety standards in publicly accessible policies.

Establish an in-app mechanism for reporting safety concerns.

Take swift action against child sexual abuse material.

Ensure compliance with child safety laws and reporting obligations.

Provide a designated contact point for child safety matters.

4. Purpose

This policy sets forth the procedures and controls that AFFINITY SQUARE’s will implement to prohibit, prevent, detect and report any form of child sexual abuse and exploitation in all forms on Chat & YAMO platform.

5. Legal Framework

As a social networking company incorporated under the laws of Cameroon, AFFINITY SQUARE is obligated by law to comply with law no 2023/009 of 25th July 2023 on the protection of children online in Cameroon, 2024 Data Protection Laws, United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and other international laws( “Applicable laws”).

6. Scope

This policy applies to:

All users of our platform, including individuals, partners, and third-party service providers.

All personnel, including board members, executives, staff, volunteers, and contractors.

All content generated, shared, or hosted on our platform.

7. Responsibilities

At AFFINITY SQUARE, we enforce child safety by implementing the following measures:

Prohibitions:
We prohibit the use of apps and links that endanger children. This includes, but is not limited to, promoting predatory behavior toward children. Examples include:

  • Inappropriate interactions with a child (touching, caresses, etc.)
  • Solicitation of children for sexual purposes (for example, befriending a child online to
    facilitate, online or offline, sexual contact and/or exchanging sexual images with the
    child)
  • Sexualisation of minors (e.g., images that depict, encourage or promote the sexual
    abuse of minors, or a depiction of children that is likely to result in their sexual
    exploitation)
  • “Sextortion” (e.g., threatening or blackmailing a child under the pretext of having
    actual or presumed access to intimate images of them)
  • Child trafficking (for example, advertising a child or soliciting a minor for
    commercial sexual exploitation)

Also prohibited are contents that may appeal to children, but contain adult themes. Examples:

  • Contents that contain violence or blood
  • Contents that depict or encourage pedophilia and child pornography

We also do not allow contents that portray the body or self in a negative way, such as showing plastic surgery, weight loss,

Age Restrictions:
At the signing up level,we have prohibited access to minors, since the age of minors vary with jurisdiction we have set up mechanisms to monitor this.

We inform minors in our privacy policies that they are not allowed to use our services.

We state this on our social media platforms by sharing comprehensive videos.

We respect children’s right and make our platform secured for all users.

User Suspension & Content Removal:
We suspend access to our services for users who publish content that violates the dignity and integrity of children.

We delete indexed content that is harmful to children and prevents its re-uploading.

We have a system in place to remove these profiles from the app. If a user encounters a profile violating our terms, we encourage them to report it within the app.

Statutory Obligations & Reporting:
We comply with legal obligations by reporting violations to competent authorities.

We work with law enforcement and child protection agencies to support investigations.

Affiliate & Partner Compliance:
We require that every affiliate and partner respects and implements child safety standards within their organization.

We conduct regular assessments to ensure compliance with our safety policies and best practices.

We share child protection guidelines with affiliates and partners to ensure they understand forms of sexual child abuse.

Published standards:
Our app explicitly prohibits child sexual exploitation and abuse in publicly available standards, such as our app’s terms of services, community guidelines or other publicly available user policy document.

8. Obligations Specific to Child Safety

To reinforce child safety, we have established the following obligations:

Good Practice Guide:
We provide a guide of good practices to users, outlining acceptable conduct on our platform, prohibited activities that harm the dignity and integrity of children, and their consequences.

We offer safety tips, both online and via the app, to educate and empower users to make smart and safe choices while interacting on CHAT & Yamo.

Reporting Mechanism:
We have implemented mechanisms for reporting content or behavior that violates the dignity and integrity of children.

Reports can be submitted through our platform’s in-app reporting feature or via designated contact points.

We encourage all users to report any unacceptable behavior so that the community team can investigate and take appropriate action.

Content Notification & Regulatory Compliance:
Reported content will be notified to the body responsible for ICT Regulations in Cameroon and security services via methods that ensure written traceability generally via email, or official reports.

Content flagged for child safety violations will be immediately removed or blocked to prevent further harm.

Access Restrictions:
We have put in place mechanisms to block access to harmful content and ensure its permanent removal.

Our platform’s age restrictions are clearly defined based on the services provided and the age group intended to be served.

9. Safety Tools & Risk Prevention

We utilize industry-leading technology and human moderation to detect, prevent, and remove inappropriate behavior. Our safety tools include:

  • Automated scans of profiles for red-flag language and images.
  • Manual review teams assessing suspicious activity and reports.
  • Account shadow-banning and blocking of phone numbers, IP addresses, and other identifiers associated with bad actors.
  • Fraud detection measures, including real-time scanning for solicitation, impersonation, and financial scams.

10. In-App User Reporting & Feedback Mechanism

To enhance user safety, AFFINITY SQUARE provides an accessible and effective reporting system within the app. Users can:

  • Report suspected CSAE content.
  • Flag inappropriate behavior or suspicious accounts.
  • Report suspected CSAE content.

Reports are reviewed promptly, and appropriate enforcement actions are taken, including content removal, account suspension, or reporting to law enforcement.

11. CSAM Detection & Removal

AFFINITY SQUARE follows strict CSAM detection and removal procedures:

Upon obtaining actual knowledge of CSAM, we take immediate action, including content removal and law enforcement reporting.

We employ AI-powered moderation tools to detect CSAE risks.

We permanently ban users engaged in CSAM-related offenses.

12. Compliance with Child Safety Laws

Our platform fully complies with:

Law no 2023/009 of 25th July 2023 on the protection of children online in Cameroon, 2024 Data protection laws, Google Play’s Child Safety Standards as well as international child protection laws.

Google Play’s child safety policies.

Mandatory reporting obligations, including reporting confirmed CSAM to:

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Relevant regional authorities in compliance with applicable laws.

13. Compliance with Child Safety Laws

To strengthen child protection efforts, we:

Facilitate collaboration with ICT Regulators:

We assist the ICT regulatory body in Cameroon in deploying all measures aimed at protecting the dignity and integrity of children.

We support data collection operations necessary for digital and judicial investigations.

Swift Content Notification & Action:

Reported content will be immediately removed or blocked.

All flagged content will be formally reported to both ICT regulators and security services via email and other traceable means.

14. Compliance with Child Safety Laws

Gervais Youans Siewe is designated as our child safety representative to:

  • Receive notifications from Google Play regarding CSAE content.
  • Ensure swift enforcement actions in response to reports.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and child protection agencies as needed

Profiles (or Chat&Yamo users) promoting illegal substances violate our Terms of Use and we have a system in place to remove these profiles from the app. If a user encounters a profile violating our terms, we encourage them to report it in within the app.

15. Policy Review and Updates

To maintain the highest standards, we regularly review and update our safety measures:

  • Routine audits to assess policy effectiveness.
  • Feedback collection from users, partners, and regulators.
  • Adapting policies to meet evolving legal, technological, and industry standards.

16. Definitions

“Child” all persons under eighteen (18) years of age.

“ICT Regulations ” Information and Communication Technology Regulatory Body.

“CSAE” Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation.

“CSAM” Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

“applicable laws” as defined in section 5.
